The following are the most common FAQ that our support team receive:
  • I've changed my e-mail address, how do I update it?
Simply visit and complete the form on our Change E-mail Address page.

  • I'm getting a different Serial Number after a fresh install, what do I do?
Simply visit and complete the form on our Registration Update page.

  • I copied and pasted the Registration code in, but it still says -UNREGISTERED-, What do I do?
Chances are you pasted in a space. Please verify that your Registration and Serial numbers are 10 digits each and contain no spaces. If that doesn't fix it for you, contact Technical Support for more information.

  • Can I reuse the same Serial Number and Registration Number on a different computer?
NO, Please follow items 1 and 2 above for the proper procedures. The Registration Number is based on your Hard Drive Serial Number. So, if it is different then your Registration Number will be different also. Flash version 1.0 and Java version 4.2 of Button Tool no longer allow you to overwrite the Serial Number.

  • When using the flash file or applet in a page, the page takes a long time to download and initialize. How can I fix this?
There are several things that you can do here.
When using building Java applets ensure that you have the Include Content in Archive field checked.
Use smaller images. This translates to lower color depth or smaller height and width.
    Use smaller audio files.

  • Can a Java Applet be Transparent to the background of the page?
Due to the nature of Java, an applet cannot be made transparent on the page.

  • Can the Applet loading color be changed from grey?
Yes, on the General Properties tab, change the background color in the 'Applet Background' section to the colour of your choosing, please keep in mind to keep it Netscape friendly (216 Color Palette).

  • Where can I purchase 1 Cool Button Tool?
Currently, we have 2 locations that you can purchase the program.
    1. For immediate credit card purchases use our Secure Order Form
    2. If you do not have a credit card, we recommend you use BMT Micro Secure Order Form accessible from our site.

  • Viewers are complaining that the applet doesn't work with Netscape 6, is there a fix?
Applets created with 4.1 (and earlier) versions of 1CBT are incompatible with Netscape 6.x - this is due to changes in the Netscape approach to applets. The latest versions of 1 Cool Button Tool (v 4.5 or greater) have been changed to work with Netscape 6.x. In order for your applets to work you will need to rebuild them with the latest version of 1CBT. Flash files created with 1CBT will be compatible with any Flash-enabled browser.

  • I've lost my project file, what can I do?
By default, when you save your project file, CBT saves a backup in the same folder and it has the extension .bak. You can rename that file to have the .1cbt extension and then open it in the program for further editing. If you deleted this file, there is currently NO way to decompile the html source back into a project file.
